Events

Friendly running events, for all abilities, in beautiful locations. Organised by runners, for runners.

I would do all of your events if I could. I just love everything about them. The scenery is fantastic and I like that they aren’t corporate and big. The community feel they have is quite something and price wise, they are extremely reasonable. Keep up the fantastic work you do, it genuinely is awesome! Angela Tegg, West Cheshire AC.

Absolutely incredible day for 20 mile race in the Clwydians. Amazing, but very tough route and we were rewarded with beautiful scenery. Joint 1st lady with Ceri Belshaw – chuffed!! Thanks for another brilliantly organised event Joe – my favourite race yet! Zoe Roberts, Wrexham.

KEY INFO

Distance: 21.1km

Ascent: 137m

Feed stations? Yes, every 5km and also the Finish area

Entry on day? Dependant on pre entry

All participants are to register between 8-9.45am for a 10am start at the Sports Pavilion in the centre of the village. The Sports Pavilion field is both the start and finish point for the race, as well as being race HQ.

The course is wonderfully scenic, the undulating route taking you to the villages of Llangynhafal, Gellifor, Llanychan and Llanynys before finishing where you started, in Llandyrnog village. Despite the undulations, there are some very fast sections which explains the many PB’s that have been achieved on the route. Water/refreshment stations are positioned every 5km on the route, with a feed station at halfway.

Chris Pratt enjoyed the 2015 edition of the VOC Half, stating:
Thanks guys for today’s event. Loved every step. My 15th half of 2015 and a new PB to complete the year. Brilliant, friendly and cheery marshals and a well organised event in a lovely part of the country.’

Traditionally held at either end of the Summer, the Vale of Clwyd 5k & 10k events will take place on the same day in 2018. 2 incredibly scenic routes, ideal for seasoned runners and beginners alike, combined with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, will make this an event day to be enjoyed by all. Vale of Clwyd 5k

The VOC 5k was voted in amongst ‘the top 100 races in the UK’ last year – it’s a cracking route and runners often comment on the simplicity and friendly feel of the event. Runners of all abilities are drawn to test themselves on the pleasant, undulating route and 2018 will be the 6th staging of the VOC 5k.
Start, finish, registration and facilities at Ysgol Bryn Clwyd school, Llandyrnog. Jez Brown finished 2nd in 2014, and said: ‘Brill race, so well organised and nice to see a few hills in a road race!’
